Microsoft Stream is an enterprise video service where customers can upload, view and share videos securely, within their organisation. They can share recordings of classes, meetings, presentations, training sessions, or other videos that aid team collaboration.

Microsoft Sway is a free app from Microsoft Office that helps gather, format, and share reports, newsletters, web pages, and presentations on an interactive, web-based canvas that looks great on almost any screen. That’s right, we said interactive! Your customers can use videos or interactive charts to engage their audience like never before.

Will Microsoft Stream work on mobile devices?

Microsoft Stream is available on mobile web browsers with full functionality across iOS and Android. In addition there are Microsoft Stream iOS and Android apps you can download.

Can I do live streaming from Microsoft Stream?

Yes, you can create live events across Microsoft Stream and Microsoft 365. For more information, see Live event overview.

Which regions does Microsoft Stream host my data in?

Microsoft Stream currently hosts data in the following regions: United States, Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia, India, United Kingdom, Canada.

Stream will host data in the following regions in the future: China, Germany, Other local regions.

What browsers does Microsoft Stream support?

Microsoft Stream supports Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11 (IE11 document mode only), and the current versions of Chrome and Safari.

Can I share videos with a specific person or my organization?

Yes. You can share videos within an organization or with a specific person, an Office 365 Group, or Active Directory security group. Learn more about setting permissions.

Sway FAQs

What admin controls are there for Sway?

As an admin, you have control over how Sway presentations are created and viewed in your organization. You can enable or disable Sway for individual users and allow or block what content sources can be seen in Sway. You can also enable or disable external sharing of Sway content and enable or disable people and security-group look-up for people in your organization.

How does my Office 365 subscription and license work with Sway?

Sway is available in many Office 365 plans. Check out the plans and license info at Available licenses for Office 365 Sway. For Sway to be available to a user, a license with Sway must be assigned to that user and the Sway service plan must be enabled under that license.

Where is data stored in Sway?

Sway data is stored in Azure within United States data centers and is working to support data centers worldwide. Sway does not count against your OneDrive for Business storage quota.

Does Sway support encryption of data?

Sway currently supports encryption in flight via https and encryption at rest.

What devices support Sway?

Sway on the web is best experienced when using Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 17 or later, Chrome 23 or later, and Safari 6 or later. Viewing Sway on the web works at any screen resolution. Creating and editing Sway presentations requires a minimum screen width of 600 pixels or larger.
