The Role

The primary role of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is to recruit new partners and drive increased revenue. The BDM’s are each responsible for a specific geographic territory, including partners, prospects, vendor field reps, and revenue. A range of 50% travel may be required for partner/prospect visits, company-sponsored events, and industry trade shows. The BDM often is the face of ScanSource and is expected to be a role model of sales professionalism. A degree and/or prior sales experience are essential.

The Business Development Manager will report to the Director of Cloud Services. They will be working closely with our sales, merchandising, and technical support teams. Job duties are as follows:

Attaining recruitment and revenue goals for the territory.
Proactive outbound calling on prospects, customers, and vendor partners.
Recruiting resellers to become authorised dealers for the products we carry.
Developing resellers’ revenue capabilities through training & certifications.
Working closely with the sales team to create and execute territory plans.
Regular attendance is an essential function of the Business Development Manager position.
Other duties as assigned.

Credentials:

Required

  • GCSEs or equivalent
  • Prior sales experience           

 

Preferred:

  • Degree
  • Outside sales experience
  • Proficiency in foreign language (Spanish, Portuguese, French, German)
  • SAP Experience

         

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit a computer terminal for varying periods of time
  • Ability to be physically in attendance at a workstation at designated company office location during normal business hours designated for the position.
  • Ability to travel 25-50 percent of the time.
